One quick tip before you make plans: always check the latest opening status. As of September 7, 2026, YS Falls is closed for its usual September break and is expected to reopen on September 22. Its canopy attraction is still closed until further notice. Chukka White River Valley is also currently listed as closed by the Jamaica Tourist Board.

1. White River Valley: For a Proper Rainforest Zipline Day
White River Valley is the one to watch if your idea of Jamaica adventure starts with a harness and deep green forest.

That mix of line lengths gives the ride more variety than a single quick zip. Is nine lines too much for a beginner? Not necessarily. The better question is whether you enjoy heights and want the canopy to be a big part of your day.
White River Valley may suit you if you want:

- Something close to Ocho Rios

2. YS Falls: When the View Is Part of the Thrill
YS Falls offers a very different canopy experience. Our team engineered a five-line system that runs roughly 40 feet above Jamaica’s seven-tier waterfall. The setting is what makes this course stand out, with the falls and surrounding greenery becoming part of the ride.
If you are comparing it with White River Valley, the choice comes down to the kind of experience you want. White River Valley offers more lines and a stronger rainforest feel, while YS Falls is more about the waterfall views and South Coast scenery.
The canopy attraction is currently closed until further notice, so check the latest status before planning a trip around it.
3. Dunn’s River Falls: Famous, Busy, and Still Worth It
Dunn’s River Falls is not a hidden gem. Most visitors have already seen it in photos before they arrive. That does not make it a poor choice. The fun comes from getting into the waterfall rather than just looking at it. You can climb through terraced sections, step across wet rock, and pause in pools as water moves around your feet.
It is more physical than the photos suggest. Proper water shoes are a much better idea than flip-flops. For travelers staying near Ocho Rios, this remains one of the best excursions in Jamaica because it is easy to fit into the day. If you dislike crowds, slippery footing, or active sightseeing, though, another option may suit you better.
4. Blue Hole: Better if You Want to Swim
Blue Hole, also called Island Gully Falls, has a looser feel than many polished tourist stops. You come here to get wet. There are blue pools, small cascades, rope swings, rocky paths, and swimming spots. A local guide can also help you move through slippery sections and choose suitable places to enter the water.
A few practical tips help:
- Wear water shoes with grip.
- Protect your phone and valuables.
- Expect wet, uneven ground.
- Do not feel pressured to jump or swing if you are not comfortable.
Blue Hole works especially well if your trip already includes a canopy tour. You still get forest and adventure, but the experience feels completely different.
5. Martha Brae River Rafting: For a Slower Day
Not every memorable Jamaica day needs a harness, waterfall climb, or rope swing. Sometimes sitting down is the better plan.
Martha Brae rafting takes you along a three-mile stretch of river on a traditional bamboo raft. A licensed raft captain guides the trip, which takes around one hour and 15 minutes according to the official operator.
The pace is the whole point. You drift through green scenery while someone else handles the raft. That makes Martha Brae a good choice for couples, families, and anyone who wants a quiet break between busier days. It is also practical if you are staying near Falmouth or Montego Bay.
Where You Stay Should Shape What You Book
Where you stay can help you choose the right excursion. If you are in Ocho Rios, Dunn’s River Falls, Blue Hole, and White River Valley are easier to reach. If you are staying in Falmouth or Montego Bay, Martha Brae may be more convenient.
YS Falls is on the South Coast, so allow extra time for the drive.
