Darren Hreniuk, spent several years developing the idea literally suspended from the epiphytic branches of the huge trees in the Monteverde Cloud Forest high in the mountains of central Costa Rica. His plan was to make sure the cable and rope systems, once reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers to traverse the rainforest canopy, were secured and double reinforced to protect tourists in a commercial application. In a nutshell, he wanted to create a fun, exciting tour that would allow clients to not only access the rainforest in a relatively easy manner but also in a way that they could pass through the system and back to the forest floor in an extremely safe manner. Once this was perfected, Mr. Hreniuk patented the idea in Costa Rica as a system of human transport.

In the last year all of The ORIGINAL CANOPY TOUR locations have been upgraded with his latest invention, a double-line, self-equalizing system. This system is currently patent-pending in The USA, Belize, Mexico, Jamaica, Australia, Costa Rica.
